Summary

Through my work as a counseling intern amongst other relevant work experience, at Communicating Well I became skilled in initial case management and treatment planning for adults, and couples. A knowledge of various different psychological approaches such as CBT, SFT, IFS, Somatic Therapy and Narrative Therapy. Guiding the client throughout one on one sessions for them to gain a better understanding of their thoughts, feelings, and body sensations. Dedicated to the therapeutic relationship development by demonstrating empathy, compassion and a safe environment where the client feels heard and validated.

Lectured in a seminar course regarding the effects on mental health and wellness of sleep deprivation, and the biological effects of lack of sleep. The discussion of co-current disorders that accompany sleep disorders, and the importance of discussing sleep patterns with psychotherapy clients.

Militarization of the Police. 

Lectured in a seminar course of the sociology of policing on the militarization of policing, pertaining to the use of drones within urban neighbourhoods. The main idea from the research in which I looked at focused on the dual association between drones and war. Ideas of totalitarianism and militarism were discussed.

12/2019. 

Intimate Partner Violence and Re-Traumatization. 

Lectured in a seminar course surrounding police response to domestic violence and the effects the police response had on the victims. The presentation focused on women recounting their trauma and how the police either heightened the trauma or helped mitigate the abuse.
