Reports to Chief Engineer for watchkeeping operation of vessel and maintenance of marine equipment as per PMS. Good knowledge of steam requirements for cargo oil pump turbine (COPT) and flammability diagram during loading and unloading on Oil Tankers.
As Fourth Engineer: Responsible for operation of Purifiers, Compressors, Freshwater generator, and their respective Pumps. Transfer of bilges and dirty oil to their respective tanks. Operation and maintenance of Incinerator. Incineration of dirty oil and garbage carried out. Chemical dosing of fresh water generator to prevent scale build-up inside evaporators of FWG. Daily Sounding of bunker tanks and preparation of bunker report. Entry into logbook various parameters of various types of machinery as per international and local regulations. Update spare parts inventory and order spares as needed.
After promotion to third Engineer or 2AE: Responsible for the operation and maintenance of Boilers. Testing of boiler water to check the condition of water thereby preventing scale and corrosion inside boiler tubes for high pressure water tube boilers onboard Oil Tankers. Responsible for upkeep of Chemicals and chemical room. Updating of Spare parts and raising new orders as needed.
Responsible for the safe operation of generators and their daily maintenance as per PMS. Experience with complete Decarbonization of Generators of various manufacturers such as yanmar, B&W, Sulzer etc. Responsible for shipboard testing of all lube oils for water in oil, viscosity etc. Updating Spare parts and raising new orders as required.
Assists C/E during F.O and D.O bunkering including preparation of Bunkering safety checklists. Assist fitter with bunker hose preparation and sampling. Take regular Sounding and ullage readings and reporting to C/E. Assist with preparing final bunker report.
Assist 1st Assistant Engineer or second engineer during maintenance of Main Engine, refrigeration and air conditioning repair.
Entry into logbook the various parameters of various machineries as per international and local regulations.

3) Marine Advanced First Aid
4) Survival craft and rescue boats other than fast rescue boats
5) Basic training for oil and chemical tanker cargo operations-officer

1) Proficiency in security training for seafarers with designated security duties.
2) Certification in high voltage training- Management level
Certification In Canada include:
1) Propulsion plant Simulator Course (PPS 1), Georgian College, Canada.
2) Canada 4th Engineers (Motor) Certificate and RoQ book.
3) Completed TC Approved medicals- valid for 2 years.
4) Eligibility and sea time received to write class 2 exams for which preparation is ongoing.
