Perform procedures such as IV start, NG tube insertion, Foley catheter insertion, trach care, central line and PICC line care, port and other central line blood draws, dressing changes, drain care, etc.
Administer and monitor chemotherapy, biotherapy, immunotherapy, supportive care medications, hydration therapy, and blood products.
Monitor the patient's vital signs during the infusion for safety and comfort.
Reviewed medication orders for appropriateness prior to administration, and evaluated lab results for accuracy.
Educate patients on treatment plans, side effects, and self-care strategies.
Utilized EHR for documentation.
Provide emotional support to patients and families.
Participate in quality improvement projects of the unit to improve patient satisfaction scores.
Develop an individualized plan of care for each patient.
Maintain a safe environment for patients by following established safety protocols.
Instruct the patient and family members/caregivers during discharge, and coordinate discharge planning to ensure continuity of care post-hospitalization.
Participate during unit meetings to discuss best practices for providing optimal patient care outcomes.
Stocked workstations with necessary supplies, and ordered supplies in accordance with department guidelines.
Provide direct supervision of PCT, students, volunteers, and new staff in training to ensure patient's needs are met.
