In the last couple of months I met a person that has changed my life for the better, she has taught me a lot about mental health, I've also seen how people with mental health issues don't get as much attention as people with other illnesses, after knowing this Im starting to make a project to show this problem to the world or at least to the people that see my work.
The subject of the photograph is the person that taught me all I know about mental health so far. For me she represents this project and should be a part of it. This Photograph was inspired by a moment in my life where I felt really vulnerable but not because something happened to me but to someone else.
The character of the image is sitting in a bathtub smiling at the camera expressing “happiness” at the edge of the bathtub there is a mirror reflecting how the subject is really feeling inside, the reflection of her face is expressing sadness.
What I wanted to reflect through this image is that in our daily life a lot of people fake their smile but inside they are in pain, screaming for help, for company and understanding. The message it's simple but very important to remember that people around you might be in pain and they might need your help.
