  • Graduate intern employed by the University of Alberta but contracted until April to the Government of Alberta to conduct research for Alberta Education.
  • Conducted research within a governmental context, which involved developing and condensing jurisdictional scans, reviewing and revising policy documents, as well as producing and refining briefing notes for senior researchers and directors.
  • Performed data analysis, including a project extracting approximately 3,000 data points from Excel into an interactive map that significantly reduced research time by several weeks and which was subsequently presented to the Assistant Deputy Minister as a proof of concept.

  • Company Overview: Research institute specializing in demographic changes and their impacts.
  • Primary researcher and author on project, funded under SSHRC Insight Development Grant, examining the entire Alberta Hansard transcripts as a form of government speech.
  • Working in Yoshikoder, a JavaScript text analysis program, the Hansard files were converted and ran through the program, looking for certain pre-identified keywords often used in populist context and producing these keywords as data which is then imported into Excel to create tables, graphs, and other ways to visualize the data and present it.
  • Oversaw the project from inception in Sept. 2022 to delivery of final draft in Dec. 2024, including managing other research assistants in research and data collection.
  • Project produced a presentation at the Canadian Rural Revitalization Foundation (CRRF) 2023 conference, which was well received, and final drafts of the paper were delivered in December 2024 for expected publication in 2025 with a potential book in the future.

  • Company Overview: Research institute specializing in demographic changes and their impacts.
  • Primary editor on a large atlas book project on the Battle River Watershed, titled Taking Notice to Take Action: Integrating Environment, Health and Community Health in the Watershed Atlas of the Battle River Watershed and Sounding Creek Watershed, which was published in 2022 and presented at ECHO Vancouver 2022.
  • A first of its kind project, the atlas consisted of 6 chapters with over 600 pages of text, maps, data, tables, etc, and examined everything from water health, to policing, to internet speed, to give a comprehensive overall picture of health in the watershed.
  • Editing process consisted of checking sources, double checking data, checking for plagiarism, checking citations/bibliography, etc, and re-researching or re-writing where needed, with the average chapter requiring 300-400 edits.

  • Two and a half years of Education experience in teaching University level courses in 1st and 2nd year classes. Collaborated with the Instructor to create engaging course content, monitor instruction of students, assess student work, and support student progress throughout the class to ensure students received effective high quality education.
  • Lectured students in class and online with a goal to not only teach them course content but also help them with other soft skills such as interpretive reading, and effective writing and communication skills.
