  • Company Overview: The NRI is responsible for licensing research in the health, natural, and social sciences disciplines, as required under Nunavut Scientists Act
  • Sample processing and analysis
  • Parasite testing such as Trichinella in harvested meat such as polar bear, walrus, etc
  • Monitoring total coliforms and Escherichia coli (E. Coli), which involved collection of surface water from 2-3 sites twice per week
  • Aid Professor (i.e., Murray Richardson) from Carleton University with fieldwork such as snow surveys, snow depth sampling, gauging of lake inflow/outflow, river gauging, maintaining atmospheric instruments/ scientific weather stations, etc
  • Assist MSc. Students with collection and examination of benthic invertebrates
  • Driving snowmobiles and all-terrain vehicles to gain access to field sites outside of the city
  • Provide lab maintenance such as updating chemical inventory and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS), calibrating lab equipment, and preparing solutions as required
