Through COVID-19, many restaurants were unable to make a full recovery. Luckily, this restaurant did and provided me with the knowledge and skills I need to be able to think on my feet. Serving tables can be surprisingly difficult and cut-throat, especially in a high-volume establishment. I am able to take the skills of working in such a fast-paced environment and incorporate them as an EMT by always staying on my toes and never breaking under stress.

This role gave me so much insight on to what leadership means in a team oriented environment. Having been there for 5 years, I was able to utilize the tools provided by my higher ups to create a very safe, friendly, peaceful space in my store while continuously breaking records with our customer service scores. I will use those team-oriented tools with my peers as I go on as an EMT and eventually a medic, as teamwork and clear communication are some of the most important qualities necessary in this field.
