The onset of COVID-19 in Uganda brought a surge in mental health cases, affecting 14 million individuals. Witnessing this crisis inspired me to take action, and I established 330 therapeutic communication groups by December 2022 providing healing spaces and breaking stigmas.
Spearheading the Peer-Learning Network project, I secured a substantial grant of 20,000 pounds from Microsoft and Open Data Institute. Despite challenges associated with torture, arrests and fleeing my country as a refugee for continously advocating for safe spaces and human rights, to adjusting to a new envionment and take on a role of engaging esteemed organisations in my first ever remote digital experience, I effectively managed a global team of six organizations, implementing a transformative and leadership approach.
I assumed a pivotal role within a team of dedicated youth activists, orchestrating and executing a potent social media campaign to amplify awareness and catalyze action against child marriage. Our mission was twofold: empowering young girls and children to raise their voices against this violation of their rights and rallying communities to take a firm stance.
Leveraging social media, we disseminated impactful videos, images, and content, inciting dialogues and engaging over 1.37 million individuals who used our hashtag, #imchildnotwife. Collaborative partnerships with influencers and organizations expanded our reach. We also held consultation sessions and workshops to foster open dialogues and knowledge exchange.
campaign resonated with an audience exceeding 140,000 on Twitter. We received direct messages from young girls seeking counseling and support, highlighting the tangible empowerment our campaign ignited. Some of the young girls who sought for counseling in Uganda were enrolled into the 330 therapeutic communication groups and today, 50 of them are peer-mentors for young girls facing mental health issues associated with harmful child practices.

Beginning my day with a 10-minute mindful breathing session, focusing on each inhale and exhale. During breaks, taking mindful walks, observing nature's details. Before meals, practicing gratitude for the nourishment. Ending the day with a 5-minute body scan, relaxing each muscle. Embracing moments of presence.
