- My duties were to clean and familiarize myself with the engine every shift, cook meals, exercise every day, train with multiple types of tools such as ladders, hose, and force-entry tools and give presentations on information I’ve learned
- I responded to vegetation/structure fires, motor vehicle accidents, medical-aid calls and civil needs such as changing out smoke detector batteries and animal rescues
- Once I graduated high school I was offered an intern position where I began working 24 hour shifts with a captain or engineer
- I would leave Calaveras county to pursue an associates degree in fire technology and complete a firefighter 1 accredited academy
