StageHand

Oakland Arena
09.2022 - 11.2024

As a Stagehand I had a multitude of roles that changed based on the work needed for the day. My primary job was to help construct and disassemble stages and large set pieces for concerts. I would also close off sections and cover them with drapes to hide empty seats. Before shows we would set up the barricades for crowd control, set up the seating on the floors, and fix any broken chairs in the lower and upper levels. After shows we would do the inverse and take barricades down and tear down seating.

Cashier/Busboy/Prep cook/dishwasher/Closer/Opener

9 Julio Empanada Kitchen
12.2023 - 03.2024

My time with 9 Julio Empanada Kitchen was short. I joined when the business opened as a favor to the owner, A family friend, who needed temporary workers as the permanent hires had a much later start date then originally planned. Due to the lack of staff I worked from open to close most days including weekends, and acted as a swiss army knife doing any and all roles needed of me. I would open alongside the owner, wiping down tables and counter, filling machines, cleaning the bathrooms, and then beginning prep with the chef. My job as prep cook was to dice and cut food, make sauces, cook empanadas, and assist the chef with the steak and chicken. once customers began to come though the doors it was my job to act as sole cashier and to monitor the front of house. When traffic was low I also acted as sole busser and dishwasher making sure to keep an eye out for customers walking though the door. To end my nights I would lead in closing each night which included finishing all dishes, sweeping and mopping, cleaning front and back of house, and cleaning any machines used that day.

Sheriff's Service Cadet

Alameda County Sheriff's Office
03.2024 - 11.2024

As a cadet my job was to assist Technicians and Deputies in whichever duty station I was assigned. In my time with the sheriff's office I worked in two very different stations. My first station was an animal shelter. While there I had many tasks needed to be completed daily. We'd begin each morning cleaning all animal cages including cat, dog, rabbit, sheep, pig, and any other strange animal that came thru the doors. After that my role was to man the phones and assist the public with inquiries. That included assisting people who found strays, roadkill, or people in duress because of a lost animal. Inside the shelter itself it was my job to intake strays brought in by the public, assist in euthanasia requests by owners, filling out adoptions, and running a team of volunteer workers who assisted in cleaning the cages, sorting donations, and general maintenance. My second Duty station was the Coroner's Office. At the Coroner's Office my role was to assist Technicians and Deputies with duties they had. I did numerous things while there. I assisted in the field with recovery of deceased persons, assisted in autopsies, filled out death reports, and helping with releasing the bodies to the mortuaries.
