As a Life Redesign Coach working in brain injury rehab, my main job is supporting clients to reintegrate into the community and work on individualized goals to achieve maximum independence. Being apart of a multi disciplinary team including physio and occupational therapist, nursing and speech language pathologist as well as recreational therapist, we will support each client in these areas under the supervision and suggestions of each disciplinary. This includes ADLs, exercise (both physical and cognitive) personal hygiene, healthy eating, making and supporting individuals to appointments or accessing events in the community.
In addition as one of five GO TO Coaches I share On-Call duties, including shift coverage for sick calls as well as moving people around the building to support where support is needed. I am one of the first calls for support to my peers to coach them and help find solutions when issues arise. As well, I am trained as one of the two trainers in Crisis Intervention which is taught to each employee in our facility.
As a support staff at Luso Day Program my main responsibilities were engaging special needs participants in various activities and outings in a fast paced environment . This also included personal care and medication administration.
