Jim McBride

Jim McBride as the principal of J2 Resources has functioned as and independent consultant or project based management since 2012, focused on construction management in the energy and minerals extraction sectors. Having gained most of the experience(34+years) in salaried positions in the construction industry across most of North America in all climate conditions with many years in artic environments. Primarily on projects in the Heavy Civil Construction, Mine Development, Oil Production, Hydro Electric and Marine facilities. Functionally, Jim is capable of planning and supervising complex field construction operations, estimating project costs, developing risk and hazard analysis, performing constructability and value engineering reviews and safely supervising multidisciplinary contractors. Having extensive experience involving remote construction and logistical challenging projects some of which required the design setup and operation of job specific explosive manufacturing plants.

• Ability to effectively organize multidiscipline crews while promoting a positive safety culture.
• Extensive heavy civil experience with roads, marine harbors, airports, pipelines, earthen dam construction involving soils, rock, frozen core and RCC, mine development projects both hard rock and oil sands.
• Hydroelectric run of river as well as existing power plant penstock and infrastructure upgrade work.
• Have worked in both extreme cold Artic as well as tropical environments. Roughly 50 percent of these projects involved controlled blasting operations due to nearby infrastructure or habitat related restrictions. Managed both excavation and drill / blast work including onsite manufacturing of explosives on larger projects.
