Working casually at Grey Nuns Hospital to provide compassionate and patient-oriented care.

Care provided primarily in unit 17 providing ketamine, ECT, and psychiatric injections to patients. Tasks performed involve:

• Programming Alaris pumps for ketamine administration
• Inserting IVs for medication administration
• Charting pre and post ketamine and ECT assessments
• Administering injections.

• UNE position working with geriatric dementia and psychiatric patients
• In this position I worked with nursing staff to take on a full patient load while working on building my patient care and time management skills
• I performed many skills independently such as:
• Performing morning assessments while helping my assigned patients get ready for the day
• Efficiently recording and charting vitals, mental and physical assessments and medications.
• Collaborating with members of a multidisciplinary team and offering suggestions while demonstrating sensitivity and care regarding my patients.
• Working with families to address their concerns regarding patients and how to best address these issues.
• Working with the facility's CNE to find new ways to interact with patients with dementia to provide better quality of life.

• Preceptorship placement working with psychiatric outpatients during ECT and ketamine treatments
• In this position I worked with my preceptor and nursing staff to perform a variety of skills and patient cares such as:
• Inserting IVs for ketamine treatment and administering the same
• Administering long-acting psychiatric injections
• Completed pre and post ECT assessments and documented the same efficently

• Experience working at multiple healthcare sites including Alberta Hospital Edmonton (Unit 10-1A, 10-2), Grey Nuns Community Hospital (Unit 17, 42, 52), and Royal Alexandra Hospital (Unit 6East)
• Skills during these placements include:
• Recognizing and reporting observations to nurse in charge
• Assessing patients' vitals along with mental status exam/head to toe assessments and charting the same efficiently.
• Administering medications/injections, performing wound care and IV insertions.
• Helping escort patients to activities to promote mental well-being and social skills.
