Research Outcomes

  • Becoming "Taitai": Fan Labor, Platformization, and the Digital Economy of Fandom in China
    Presentation at IAMCR Singapore 2025.
    This research, based on interviews with 15 fan writers on Lofter, investigates how commercial digital platforms are reshaping fan subjectivity—transforming amateur fans into semi-professional platform laborers more attuned to the logic of platform capitalism and the creative economy.
  • Love with AI: rethinking anthropomorphic labor in contemporary digital economy.

      The reseach artciulate an alternative theoretical framework to understand the emerging ai-mediated intimacy in China.  It contours how being sense as a human has been a new site of labor.  

  • Rehearsing Romance: Heterosexual Scripts and Parodic Intimacy in Ficto-Love

       This research examines alternative scripts for virtual romance. Focusing specifically on Xingye, Maoxiang, and Zhumeng Dao, it investigates how AI intimacy generators are agentively used by female writers to explore diverse forms of love, intimacy, and sexuality which is beyond the power relations of heteronormatve relations.
