JIAYANG WU

I study BBA at Xi'an Jiaotong Liverpool University, and now I am having a 1-year exchange experience at HEC Montreal.

I have strong learning abilities and won the Academic Excellence Award (Top2 /110) in my second year. I study all kinds of subjects, including operation, finance, economics, marketing, etc. My favorite research area is economics and international political policy. I am good at quantitative subjects like statistics, macro-economics, and international finance. I also want to improve my quantitative ability through this summer program.

Since all my undergraduate courses are taught in English and I have one year of overseas learning experience, I have a better ability of English, and I think I have a broader international perspective to analyze problems. Also, I have strong team leadership and collaboration abilities. I served as a club leader for one year. In the club, I specialized in writing promotional drafts for activities and uploaded them to social platforms using Photograph and Canvas.

I have a certain understanding of Python, especially when I was a RA in the last year's research, I used Python to effectively collect information on the website. I have a great sense of collecting information—even though I don't use Python, I can still find useful information quickly.

As a volunteer in the Red Cross, I have also accumulated a lot of useful social experience. I believe this experience has enhanced my sense of responsibility and also enabled me to improve my work ability and efficiency. I also had an internship in an accounting firm for a while, which taught me a lot of knowledge that I couldn't get in school. It also made me realize the importance of improving my social skills in the workplace.

My aim is to apply for a Master's degree in Economics or Public Policy next year, and the University of Chicago is my dream school, to be honest. I plan to participate in this summer program which is hosted by Peking University and UChicago. I hope I can gain valuable knowledge about my interesting areas and get a deeper understanding of UChicago.
