• Conduct direct and indirect wildland firefighting on Type 1 wildland handcrew
• Mop-up and patrol burned areas after fires to locate and eliminate hot spots
• Perform arduous and physically demanding work in all weather conditions including extreme heat (Hiking, Running, Cutting line, and other training)
• Conduct suppression repair and rehab tactics
• Cut hand line and clear out defensible space to protect structures during wildfire
• Learning the use of radios
• Safely and efficiently cut, remove, and chip vegetative fuel using a wood chipper
• Pile and ignite vegetative material, during grade projects
• Conduct burn operations
• Prepping for burns
• Fire prevention projects on highways
• Maintain equipment and tools daily to maintain peak working condition (sharpen, rehandle, ect)
• Familiar with Chainsaw and its specific rehab
• Understanding where to find and what is needed for our tool

Crew leader (Swamper):

• Taking initiative in Leadership role
• Taking Responsibility of the Crew
• Ensuring that the bus is ready to go
• Radios, Tools, Fuels, etc..
• Ensure that the fireline is properly cut
• Communicating what needs to be done with FF
• Ensuring my Captain and Engineers job is easier

• Conduct initial and indirect wildland firefighting on Type 1 wildland handcrew

• Perform arduous and physically demanding work in all weather conditions including extreme heat

• Safely and efficiently cut, remove, and chip vegetative fuel using a wood chipper
• Pile and ignite vegetative material, during grade projects
• Conduct burn operations
• Create fuel breaks throughout projects
• Maintain equipment and tools daily to maintain peak working condition (sharpen, rehandle, ect)
• Safely and efficiently use handtools
• Familiar with seven safety features of chainsaw (Throttle control, On/Off switch, chain break, inertia break, spark arrestor, chain catch, handguard)
• Clean and maintain the center facilities by mopping, sweeping, cleaning and taking out trash
• Clear and maintain trails
• Maintain physical fitness by hiking and running
