- I worked as a pumpkin carver for the event Pumpkinferno. My experience in the workplace taught me how to handle power tools like Dremel’s, drills, and how to change the Dremel bits. I also learned how to use the safety equipment required for the job, for example: dust suits, masks, goggles, ear protection, gloves, and steel toe boots. While working for Upper Canada Village I also learned how to work as a group and under tight deadlines.

Upper Canada Village, I am writing to you because I’m interested in the Pumpkin Carver/Design Assistant position available at the Parks of St. Lawrence. I have some previous experience that helps me qualify for this position, I am an art student currently in the Animation program at Algonquin college. I worked as a Pumpkin Carver in the summer of 2022 and 2023 for Upper Canada Village, therefore I am a returning applicant. As a returning applicant I can offer the skills I gained from having this job in the previous years and can assist training new hires, I am aware of how the process works therefore I will require no training unless there are new things to be introduced. I am good at working in groups and communicating with peers to help understand and explain instructions. I am also capable of working on my own and I trust my ability to get things done. I am confident in my physical condition, and I am prepared for all physical work required. I am eager to expand my current knowledge pumpkin carving and expand my experience in the workplace.
