Work History
Vice President Exploration
Canamax Energy Ltd & Prairie Thunder Resources
08.2015 - Current
Demonstrated proficient leadership skills to motivate employees and build competent multi-disciplinary teams in the geology, geophysics, land and engineering departments.
Identified opportunities within the Peace River Arch with a focus on Montney, Charlie Lake, Dunvegan, and Wabamun development. Recently, with the merge with Prairie Thunder, have been working on heavy oil within Southwest Saskatchewan.
Collaborated with senior management to develop strategic initiatives and long term goals including the identification of new plays, development of land strategies and the implementation of secondary recovery schemes .
Established performance goals for department and provided methods for reaching milestones. As a result, the Company grew from ~250 boe/d to 3,000 boe/d and added over $250 million of NPV10 reserve value.
Along with the team, responsible for the discovery of several new oil pools including the Cecil Charlie Lake JJJ pool, Leddy A Pool, Puskwaskau Wabamun pool as well as the development of the Grimshaw and Flood Montney Pools.
Used geological knowledge and expertise in unconventional and resource development to characterize sediment which proved to be invaluable in the understanding and development of the Montney and Wabamun plays.
Obtained permits, planned and budgeted operations and coordinated exploration at all of the drilling sites. Often acting as the project manager coordinating everything from land acquisition to surveying (including working with the land company for notifications) to regulatory applications to the creation of the drilling and completion programs and, finally, to getting the new wells on production.
Maintained optimal safety practices on every job site by implementing the use of H2S safety manuals, training and practice drills and requiring BOP training for all onsite employees In house, first aid training is required for all employees.
Vice President Exploration
Powder Mountain Energy
05.2011 - 07.2015
Identified and managed a Bakken asset in the Hardy area of Saskatchewan.
Analyzed, interpreted and provided mapping of the geology and geophysical information through the integration of well logs, core analysis and publications and conference talks.
Responsible for drilling 4 horizontal wells and raising over $40MM through investor presentations
Eventually sold to Canamax in 2015.
Developed and implemented real-time data interpretation and communication strategies for field investigations.
Senior Resource Geologist
Pengrowth Energy Ltd
07.2007 - 05.2011
Demonstrated an ability to learn quickly as the asset area included several different and new plays throughout Northeast BC including the Horn River Basin, Montney, Doig Phosphate, Charlie Lake and Halfway.
Proved to be adaptable as unconventional gas became more mainstream and I took the initiative to educate myself on this emerging idea through attending countless courses, conferences, talks and networking.
Implemented the use of several high-level science technologies and innovations such as microseismic and advanced logging suites and core analysis that had not previously been used at the Company.
Provided geological support for the Business Development group on several acquisitions including the acquisition of Monterey Bay for their Montney play in the Groundbirch and Bernadette areas in NEBC
Following this acquisition, joined the Montney team as the unconventional geologist which had a large budget (>$150MM) and lots of activity. This included the development of a regional basin model for the Montney which led to more acquisitions and drilling that continued for several more years.
Compiled data, prepared reports, completed basin modeling and created maps with Accumap, GeoScout and Petrel.
Gained wellsite experience and provided support to the geological team in Horn River by acting as the wellsite geologist on a few wells. This was very valuable as several large scale logging and coring programs were executed during this time.
Junior Geologist
Vaquero Resources
12.2005 - 07.2007
Collected, reviewed and interpreted real-time and long-term geological data gleaned from drilling reports, public logs, core analysis and publications for use in regional Mannville mapping.
Prepared reports by tabulating and summarizing data.
Worked well in a multi-disciplinary team setting, providing support to the senior staff while learning from them at the same time.
Junior Geologist
Burlington Resources
04.2005 - 12.2005
Was involved in the development at Kaybob which provided a lot of knowledge about the Peace River Arch and the implications on the associated geological reservoirs. Participated in the development of several different formations from the Notikewin to the Debolt.
Analyzed and interpreted geological, geochemical and geophysical information from sources such as survey data, well logs, drilling and completion reports and various papers.
Developed and maintained underground geologic maps and cross-sections to use in exploration projects.
Established myself as an excellent presenter through both an affinity for technology and the creation of presentation materials as well as an ease in front of a group.
