  • Support field staff in day to day operations, troubleshooting and optimization initiatives.
  • Forecast and track production volumes, opex and netbacks
  • Ensure field has sufficient service through midstream facilities to sales.
  • Plan new wellsite facilities and pipeline tie-ins
  • Monitor and optimize field opex spending
  • Participate in facility Hazops and recommendation close outs.

Production / Facilities Engineer

Company Overview: Palliser Oil & Gas was a junior oil and gas producer focused on CHOPS and HVL (high volume lift) heavy oil production in the Lloydminster region.

  • Responsible for 600 boed - primarily from heavy oil wells in the greater Lloydminster area.
  • Designa and execute Palliser’s facility projects.
  • Optimize heavy oil well production – monitor fluid levels and pump efficiencies - speed up, load, flush, and workover wells to maximize oil volumes.
  • Plan and coordinate well workovers with rig consultants and Operations.
  • Evaluate and select best downhole configuration and surface equipment setup for new drills and reactivations.
  • Coordinate completion, equipping and tie-in activities. Bring new wells online.
  • Review fields with Geology and Exploitation to identify workover and recomplete opportunities.
  • Monitor salt water disposal well performance and workover / stimulate as required to maintain disposal rates.
  • Monitor Op Costs, accrue OPEX and CAPEX spending, and approve invoices.

  • Coordinate completion and tie in activities between Drilling, Construction, Completions, Facilities, Pipeline and Electrical groups. Bring new wells online.
  • Identify candidates for workovers and recompletions – coordinate work and bring wells online.
  • Monitor and optimize oil and gas production.
  • Support field operations.
  • Research, evaluate and recommend production technologies (PC pumps, liners, casing / tubing strings, rods, wellhead drives).
  • Scope and sponsor facility improvement, de-bottlenecking and op-cost reduction projects.
  • Create annual production, development and exploration budget.
  • Manage capital spending for field.
  • Create / approve AFE’s, cost tracking and accruals
  • Liaise with partners on joint venture projects.
  • Maintain good relationship with regulatory bodies.
  • 2010 - North East Gas – Responsible for 550 active gas wells / 40 mmscfd, and 15 gas plants in NE Alberta.
  • Similar responsibilities as above plus:
  • Model and optimize gas-gathering systems. Initiate and execute facility consolidation, pipeline and compression projects.
  • Manage large inactive well inventory – workover, recomplete, suspend or abandon wells to comply with ERCB regulations.
