An experienced film and arts professional with over 30 years of experience. I have directed my own films that have screened at festivals worldwide, in addition to having an extensive background in such arts as painting, photography, sculpture, mold-making, drafting, illustration, and graphic design. In have an in-depth knowledge of both art and film history, as well as expertise both on the production side as well as the theoretical elements such as symbolism, motifs, subtext, and analogies. I have used these skills to give training and guest lectures at Northwood Public School and to train crew members on Kettle Point First Nations Reserve on their positions.
Created short films that screened at festivals worldwide. An all-encompassing position from script-writing, to grant writing, budgeting, storyboarding, set & prop design, construction, performance coaching, lighting direction, editing, and overseeing the sound design and scoring. Trained new members on how to work in an art department. Oversaw Assistant Art Director’s drawings and co-ordinated with department such as Construction, Set Decoration, Graphics, and Location in the construction of large scale sets. Co-ordinating and Cost Tracking between Art, Construction, and Set Decoration departments. Daily assisting duties for Art Directors and Set Designers, learning the essentials of drafting, graphics, lighting, and construction. My duties included small scale sets and location augmentations, as well as sign creation and prop graphics like newspapers and soft drink labels. Credits include:
Sporadic guest lectures, covering film production essentials - from photography to editing - while creating a short film with the students.
Received a government grant to create a television pilot while training locals the various crew positions, including budgeting and scheduling, location scouting, lighting, camera work, production design, sound recording, editing, scoring, and sound design.
Commission to create illustration of the church exterior, as well as various graphic art pieces for mail-outs and displays. Several of these were subsequently sold for fundraising.
Sculpture and mold-making for film and television. Assisted in creating make-up effects such as old-age make-up and animal carcasses for Legends of the Fall, bullet wounds for Natural Born Killers, a dummy monkey for Monkey Trouble, and head casts for In the Mouth of Madness.
