Responsible for the direct supervision of dietary staff in a 126 bed long term care facility. Accountable for departmental budget, staff scheduling, hiring, training, performance evaluations and staff discipline in a unionized environment. Complete an annual self-assessment to identify strengths and weakness and set goals for improvement and growth. Built trusted working relationships with the corporate management team, staff, families and residents., Completed “Above & Beyond” customer service training. Liaise with Administrator, Dietician, Nursing staff and family members to ensure that optimal care is provided to residents. Interact with suppliers and external contractors in regards to food and equipment purchases and repairs., Ensure that nutrition requirements and standards identified in the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care (MoHLTC) Act 2007 are meet on a daily basis via safe food handling practices, production sheets, standardized menus and proper receiving, storage and adequate inventory of products. Provide direction to staff in regards to therapeutic diets, production of food, food safety and quality, service, cleaning and sanitation of work areas and equipment. Responsible for the roll out of new seasonal menus which includes consultation with the Dietician, residents council, and food committee, and the implementation of new weekly and daily menus, standardized recipes, production sheets and order guides. Audit meal service, master diet lists, and health and safety. In collaboration with the Dietician, develop and maintain the dietary portion of the resident care plan for each resident using MDS/RAI. Organize and supervise special catered events for residents such as the annual B-B-Q., Meet targets for raw food, staffing, supply, equipment and education budgets as set by the company. Ensure adequate inventories of food products, paper supplies, dining ware, flatware and equipment. Review standardize recipes and make appropriate adjustments to ensure quality and cost., Complete quarterly reporting, new admissions and auditing reports in a timely manner. Work collaboratively with the management team to successfully complete annual Resident Quality Inspection (RQI) by the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care utilizing the new MoHLTC standards. Promote a healthy, safe and supportive work environment for staff and residents. Utilize Abaqis to ensure compliance with MoHLTC standards and company policy.
