  • Since working as Directional Driller for Baker Hughes, I have worked in numerous areas drilling very complex wells all over California doing Horizontals, S-Wells, Build & Hold, Carbon Capture and Intercept wells. I have also done offshore drilling in California and Alaska as well as Geothermal drilling In Hawaii. In my time with Baker Hughes I have complected DD & Advanced DD Academy's and have been trained to operate multiple Rotary Steerable Systems.

Directional Driller & MWD

Ensign Directional
01.2008 - 06.2017
  • My responsibilities as a Lead Directional Driller are to prepare and coordinate all directional tools and BHA’s for present job, set up and tracking of all well data, verification of off-set wells, projection of well path to target, strap tools and preparation of BHA sheets, picking up BHA, monitoring of tools while down hole, communication with Company representative and others involved in project. I have worked in California for companies such as Oxy, Vintage, CRC, KMD, Berry Petroleum & SoCal gas. I have worked out of state in North Dakota, Wyoming, Colorado and Nevada while doing Horizontals (Up to two mile laterals), Short Radius Horizontals, Build/Hold, S-Wells and Re Entry’s. All wells ranged from 1500' to 22000' while having tight targets and anti-collision.

MWD- Measure While Drilling

Ensign Directional
01.2008 - 01.2010
  • I gained MWD experience at the same time I was Directional Drilling. I was Directional Drilling while running MWD as well as single man work. I have experience in EMMWD, LWD and Mud Pulse MWD. My position required me to rig up and rig down MWD surface gear and equipment, assembling, programming and testing of the tools, maintaining tool run records, survey, logging and end of well reports.

Rig Manager/Tool Pusher

Ensign Drilling
01.2006 - 01.2008
  • My responsibilities as a Rig Manager/Tool Pusher were to oversee all drilling operations and activities while managing 20 on-site employees and equipment 24 hours a day to optimize production, safety and integrity. I have supervised on triples, doubles and single rigs. 95% of my rig manager experience was done on a triple in Long Beach, CA at Thums Island. During my 2 years as a Rig Manager, I was selected to attend an Implement Team (I-Team) 3 times, to join a group of managers to address issues, voice opinions and create new policies on how to improve the company, and bring new procedures to the rigs to gain better and safer performance.

Driller/Relief Driller

Ensign Drilling
01.2003 - 01.2006
  • My responsibilities as a Driller were to manage a 5 man crew safely, operate the rig, pumps and equipment during drilling operations while tracking depths, pressures, weights, torques and drilling data for the tour sheets. It was also my responsibility to lead all safety meetings and ensure all paper work including JSA’s, hazard awareness, L/O T/O and safety alerts were reviewed, discussed and applied to ensure a safe work environment.

Derricks, Motors & Floors

Ensign/CAZA/Gary Drilling
01.1997 - 01.2003
  • I have acquired a number of skills in these three positions over the six year period. As a Derrick Man, I worked in the derrick tripping in and out of the hole and chased the kelly while making connections. I also maintained the mud system and ensured that the pumps were running properly as well as doing all repairs and maintenance. As a Motor Man, I trained and guided the Floorhands as we tripped pipe or made connections on how to operate roughneck/tongs. I was also responsible for service and maintenance of all motors and equipment on location. While I was a Floorhand, I learned the drilling operations, techniques and safety procedures to advance my career and succeed in the drilling industry.
