I was in charge of the Flin Flon office for 4 years before enrolling into the DPN program. Our main responsibilities were to assist patients with their travel to and from elective and emergency appointments by providing mode of transportation options, or reimbursing for fuel and accomodations, provided medevac authorization for intra-facility transfers, data management as well as all financial billing and invoices.
My role was to assist the doctors, nurses, health care aides, administration staff and patients in anything they needed, as well as keeping supplies in stock and organized.
My title in the OR was the Pediatric Dental Surgery Coordinator, and also assisted in general surgery referrals and bookings.
I received, managed and prioritized surgical referrals for the Northern Health Region and coordinated surgical schedules ensuring all patients medical needs were met in a timely matter. As well as receiving and relaying mandatory information for patients, parents/caregivers, and surgical staff on a consistent basis.
While working in the OR, I was asked my management to assist with the heavy work flow in the Health Records Department. My task was to transcribed medical dictations by the physicians ensuring clarity and precise medical terminology in the reports.
I managed time effectively to meet the deadlines while maintaining quality work, improving the workflow and reducing backlogs.
My responsibilities at the medical referral office was to process incoming referrals accurately, ensuring patients were able to access the services they needed.
