Project Engineer

ABB
09.2022 - 03.2024
  • I was responsible to evaluate, select and apply standard techniques and procedures to perform engineering assignment to produce sound mechanical design for Custom low voltage, medium voltage switchgears and retrofit solution as per CSA/IEEE standards. Along with managing Projects as technical lead across different teams from quotations stage to commissioning while supporting manufacturing and managing resources. I also design and develop new solutions to certify existing products for ARC rating as per IEEE standards.
  • Designed the new metal clad switchgear for 2BC accessibility rating as per IEEE std C37.20.2 and managed all the design changes by DFMA techniques by following factory standards and procedures. Also managed team in term of distributing tasks along with taking critical decisions regarding hardware, material thickness and reinforcements. While coordinating with subcontractors and resource planning.
  • Developed standard procedure to install bus bars in cabling compartment as per customer requirements, designed new tools required to create embossments on existing cable compartment walls, which saves the huge amount of modification work.
  • Made technical recommendations in the testing, installation and commissioning phases of customer projects to ensure all actions are completed according to process requirements and standards, while identifying improvement opportunities.

Mechanical Product Developer, R&D

Coltene-Scican
01.2022 - 09.2022
  • I was responsible to process ECR, ETR, and ECO's according to established procedures for existing and new products, along with sourcing and qualifying vendor for new part designs. Also, responsible on performing engineering analysis of new designs, conducting tolerance stack-up and design failure mode and effects analysis of design.
  • Designed new highly efficient condenser for next generation automated instrument washer by doing design calculations and carrying out CFD analysis which aligns with required market growth in new product.
  • Made new validating and testing setup to be used for any water level sensor life and validation testing by following the pneumatic logic controls and using reed switches.
  • Designed Machined parts for Lumen washing system which can be integrated into newly designed next generation instrument washer. Followed ISO15883-1 requirements.
  • Carried out risk management activities and managed project controls by carrying out weekly design review meetings.

Mechanical Designer

S&C Electric Canada Ltd.
04.2019 - 01.2022
  • I was responsible to Preparation for approval of drawings and bills of material for switchgear manufacturing per CSA/ANSI/ UL Standard and manufacturing design of sheet details, steel assemblies and bus assemblies, along with supporting other departments in process of quotations, manufacturing, welding, and final assembly.
  • Designed new roller truck for fuse roll-in compartment by following kinematics principle, Also, integrated this design with existing manual switch operating mechanism.
  • Acted as liaison between engineering and production team to address critical issues by developing solutions to have better control on lead time.
  • Designed molded bus boots by conducting thermal analysis.
  • Standardize the design process by creating master procedure for different custom designs and introduced two checklists at different level of approval and final design stages.
  • Develop standard calculator for eyebolts requirements by following ANSI B18.15-1985 standards.

Mechanical Product Designer

Peerless-Electric
01.2018 - 03.2019
  • I was responsible to create, approve and revise the extruded, sheet metal, die casted and machined; steel and aluminum parts for new development projects.
  • Developed new extrusion with die casted end caps with prototyping using 3D printer and lab testing using spectrometer as per UL standards and final product was also tested and validated for IP rating.
  • Worked closely with industrial programmers and machine operators to optimize the process by workflow planning and managing equipment layouts.
  • Developed the naming nomenclature for all the existing or new parts, weldments, assemblies and hardware's and saved company a huge amount in costly revisions through design reviews.
