As a Hospital Service Assistant, I assist in the admission, transfer and discharge of patients. Collect appropriate materials and supplies for each new admission. I also perform vital signs as needed per patient's orders. If needed, I will also assist nursing staff by positioning, holding or restraining patients during medical procedures. I constantly observe and report patient's condition, status and/or attitude to appropriate staff as well as EPIC electronic health system. I will assist patients in passive range-of-motion exercises, and help with the application, removal and replacement of protective, comfort, and therapeutic devices. I often perform colostomy care as well as foley catheter care and assist with daily ADL's such as toileting, feeding, bathing, transferring and ambulating. As a healthcare provider I also perform isolation techniques to avoid contact exposure to myself, patients and staff. I constantly monitor the safety of our patients and observe patients behaviors all while charting into Epic system, sometimes sitting with more than one patient an entire shift. I also float to other units in the hospital as needed. I also assist with new Hospital Service Assistants when they are orientating
