Dear SFU Admissions,
I am extremely interested in enrolling into the SFU MBA program for the upcoming Fall semester of 2024.
For over two years, I have served as the Leasing Manager at Rico Real Estate, where my responsibilities include overseeing the leasing process for our portfolio of 300+ rental properties. In this capacity, I ensure that each unit meets our leasing standards and requirements. My role demands a strong focus on marketing strategies (including digital, affiliate, and social media), meeting rental deadlines for each property, and maintaining continuous communication with both clients and tenants. I collaborate with a diverse range of housing organizations such as Siloam Mission, New Journey Housing, and Accueil Francophone to provide safe and reliable housing for those in need. Additionally, I manage leasing services for high-end builders like Qualico, Sussex Realty and Santa Fe developments, assisting in the leasing of large-scale developments across Winnipeg.
Working closely with a small team of seven employees has provided me with a substantial role in a smaller-scale operation, imparting valuable skills in business management. However, I have come to realize that there are knowledge gaps in my understanding that can only be filled through pursuing an MBA. I aspire to leverage my work experience as a foundation for acquiring an MBA, with the ultimate objective of enhancing my business acumen to become an even greater asset to my company.
While my undergraduate academic record may have been inconsistent, I am confident in my ability to excel in a business school environment. I am committed to being a diligent and dedicated student, actively participating in all aspects of university life. I also intend to fully immerse myself in the SFU community and engage with the broader business community in Vancouver, as I value not only the exceptional education offered but also the lifelong connections that can be made through an MBA program.
In addition to my role as a leasing manager, I have accumulated significant volunteer experience over the years. During high school, I participated in a three-year Youth2Youth program, where I mentored underprivileged elementary students from Dufferin School in Winnipeg. I also dedicated three summers to volunteering as a camp counselor at various summer camps (B'nai Brith Camp Kenora & Winnipeg Beach Day Camp), providing guidance and support to children. Currently, I am in my second year of volunteering as an Ultimate Frisbee coach for Team Manitoba for the upcoming summer of 2024, allowing me to continue my passion for working with children in my spare time.
Apart from my professional and volunteer commitments, I am deeply involved in competitive Ultimate Frisbee. I had the honor of captaining the University of Manitoba team to two national championships in 2019 and 2022, all while serving as the club's vice-president. Currently, I compete for Winnipeg's renowned club team, General Strike, with whom I clinched a Senior national championship in 2022. We are proud to hold the 17th rank among North America's best open teams. Beyond Ultimate Frisbee, I am s passionate traveler and outdoorsman.
Thank you very much for taking the time in reading this, I look forward to hearing back.
