  • Assigned as the Victim Response and Support Unit Liaison (VRSU) and Mental Health Coordinator for Kirkland Lake Detachment.
  • As part of the VRSU I was responsible for reviewing all Domestic related incidents, Sexual Assault Investigations including all incidents related to violence against children for the Kirkland Lake Detachment area.
  • Take lead with any Benchmark level incidents involving Domestic, Sexual Assault and Offences against Children.
  • Experience in Major Case Management and have had experience in all three roles.
  • Trained and designated to assist detachment members by conducting Child Interviews when required.
  • Develop and Maintain Criminal Informants while ensuring to follow all proper procedure and ensuring that the protection of the Informants anonymity is strictly maintained.
  • Prepare, submit and execute Criminal Code Search Warrants, Feeney Warrants and Production Orders.
  • Conduct Interviews and Interrogation of witnesses, suspects and accused.
  • Detachment liaison and coordinator for the Ontario Sex Offender Registry (OSOR). Maintain and update the database on annual basis with offenders as well as conduct address checks throughout the year to ensure the offenders are complying with the registry and residing at their declared address.
  • Prepare Christopher's Law Warrants when offender on the OSOR in non-compliant.
  • Properly manage all caseload and maintain contact with victims and Crown attorney providing proper support and case followup from the beginning of an investigation to it's completion in court with a constant awareness of impacting case law, such as R. versus Jordan.
  • Liaise with road officers and offer support with complex criminal investigations, including assisting with the preparation of applicable judicial authorizations, running interviews or conducting photo-lineups in compliance with policy.
  • Secured evidence from crime scenes, bodies and secondary locations, carefully following sound evidentiary practices and chain of custody requirements.
  • Testified under oath in Criminal Trials.
  • Attended autopsies and took detailed notes on information relevant to case investigations.
  • On time to time basis, cover the role of the Area Crime Supervisor for Kirkland Lake and South Porcupine Detachment. During this time I would coordinate all criminal investigations, assign proper resources, take notifications of all Benchmark Crimes and ensure proper notifications are made to units and Regional Command Staff.
  • As Mental Health Coordinator I would regularly meet with CMHA staff and develop plans and responses for shared clients between our two organizations.
  • Worked to develop a "Situation Table" along with CMHA. This Situation Table will convene when an individual has been identified by any community stakeholder as a person of Acute Elevated Risk. The various stakeholders will then work together to establish the best course of action to ensure the proper resources are engaged to support the individual in need.
