Multi-Care Kidney Clinic/Kidney Genetics - Hamilton, ON

• Charge nurse- Duties include providing support to staff on a regular basis and deal with any clinic issues that arise including staffing and schedule changes. Responsible for weekly staff assignments to ensure all clinics are staffed appropriately. Reports to manager when required.
• Provide health teaching and education to patients regarding symptom management, treatment options and decisional support.
• Promotes collaborative team practice amongst all disciplines and acts as a resource to all staff members.
• Excellent skills in leadership, communication, organizational, assessment, critical thinking and client teaching/training and conflict resolution skills.
• Excellent computer skills and electric documentation.

Thoracic Unit

• Experience with epidurals and patient-controlled analgesic for pain management.
• Experience with chest tubes including daily assessment, wound care, signs and symptoms of infection or distress and chest tube management.
• I.V. Certification, venipuncture, and medication administration.

Nephrology Unit/Kidney & Urinary Program

• Ability to perform to the full scope of practice as a registered practical nurse.
• Experience with peritoneal dialysis, including accurate physical assessment, assessment and interpretation and patient health teaching.
• Wound care management.
• Demonstrated excellent leadership skills and ongoing support to staff and students.

Telemetry Unit

• Patient population includes patients with cardiac conditions including congestive heart failure, myocardial infarction, angina, cardiac drug toxicity, pacemaker insertion, atrial fibrillation, angioplasty, and cardiac arrhythmias.
• Remote telemetry monitoring and cardiac interventions. Demonstrates excellent health teaching for patients and families.
• Experience with computer documentation, computer medication administration and Meditech order entry system.

Ambulatory Care Unit

• Assist with minor procedures in a sterile environment.
• Performing preoperative and postoperative patient assessments.
• Actively assisting in surgical procedures and education of post-surgical instructions including wound care.
• Assisting with cystoscopy and urodynamics procedures, bladder installation treatments and assisting with urological procedures.
• Observation assessment of endoscopy and colonoscopy procedures.
• Experience with IV infusion therapy treatments, phlebotomy procedures and observation according to hospital policy.
