I have a love and desire for teaching, working, gaining skills and knowledge in outdoor and mountain environments. Connected to my love of the outdoors and nature is a strong interest in the science and research involved in the natural world, developed and broadened through my university studies, working and free time spent in the mountains: ski touring, climbing and mountaineering.

Glacier Tail Guide & Field Data Scientist

  • Guiding guests alongside ACMG guides on the Athabasca glacier, including safe route finding and lowering guests into a crevasse, involving on site anchor set up and an improvised Canadian drop loop system.
  • Glacial monitoring program - daily data collection of field weather, surface ice loss, solar radiation and ice albedo as well as intermittent GPS tracking. I entered this data from the field into a spreadsheet database and from this created an end of season summary to compare trends and observations from previous years.

Safety Operations - Trail Crew

  • Working alongside ski patrol to ensure the mountain is safe for guests.
  • Working hard labour in harsh mountain environments in the Canadian Rockies to temperatures as low as -27 degrees Celsius.
  • Building and maintaining fences to catch snow to allow for a better snowpack.
  • Developed strong skiing skills by having to work in closed areas of the mountain before it was open to public to make the areas safe.


Camp Custodian & Field Support Crew

Working the 2023 summer season at the Athabasca Glacier at the Columbia Icefields as the base camp custodian and field support crew. This role involved managing base inventory and the assisting with smooth running of 'Operation Tread Lightly' (a leave no trace guided trip with an ecological and educational focus) and our base camp. Alongside this role I was also deployed most days in the field to support the ACMG guides in our guided trips which involves: recording data and weather observations, guest management, assisting in rigging rope and anchor systems for our technical crevasse lowers and end of day data entry.
