For nearly half my life now, I've been teaching and playing drums professionally, alongside managing and promoting shows. All I've ever wanted is to contribute as much as I possibly can to the arts community, and encourage/aid others in doing the same.
Managing a luxury menswear consignment store full time. Maintaining positive relationships with consignors, customers, and business owners as well as maintaining the store itself. What I love about this position is that there is no commission involved, so I am truly committing to forming genuine relationships and giving people things they actually need/want that work best for them, rather than trying to push a sale.
I work to always ensure a safe environment for staff
and patrons. I’m typically the manager on shift most nights. This includes ensuring my coworkers have everything they need to succeed, forming relationships with artists and doing settlement with them at the end of the night. I often manage from the box office where I’m meeting every person in the room, or behind the bar where I’m meeting most people as well. I strive to ensure that every patron, artist, and staff member in the room is comfortable and excited about live music/art. I promote events there as well. The Aviary is to my knowledge, the only music venue in town that is all ages all the time. I’ve been playing shows there since I was about 15 too. The Aviary is a crucial part of the Edmonton arts community and I’m honoured to be a face of the venue. Through there I’ve worked with thousands of musicians and artists from all over the world of all ages.
My main objective as a teacher is to keep my students engaged, excited to play the instrument, and to help them meet their personal goals by giving them the tools needed to do so. I’ve taught private lessons through Axe Music, the Aviary, and my home studio. I am capable of, and enjoy teaching all styles! I’ve taught students ages 6-60, and I have experience teaching neurodivergent students as well. I see my teaching as student-led, and I approach all students and situations individually. At the end of the day, I'm just here to guide my students to express themselves however they choose.
