As I reflect on my four-year tenure as a Site Supervisor, I am filled with a sense of pride and accomplishment. From humble beginnings with 60 students and 3 youth development professionals, our site has blossomed into a thriving community of 210 students, with an average daily attendance of 175 students, and a team of 9 dedicated youth development leaders.

Through unwavering dedication, perseverance, and a commitment to excellence, I have had the privilege of creating a safe, supportive, and fun environment for our students to grow and thrive. As the site has grown, so too has my role, encompassing key responsibilities such as hiring top talent, providing ongoing support to staff, and driving program development.

Year 1: Foundations of Success

In our inaugural year, we laid the groundwork for a strong foundation, building relationships with our initial staff and students. This foundation paved the way for growth and expansion in years to come.

With an increase in student enrollment to 100 and the addition of more staff, we continued to refine our program, introducing new initiatives and activities that resonated with our growing community.

As our student population swelled to 120, we responded by adding more staff, ensuring we maintained our commitment to providing exceptional support and guidance to our young people.

Transforming a Struggling Clubhouse into a Thriving Hub of Fun and Engagement

During my 7-month tenure as the leader of our club house, I faced a daunting challenge: reviving underutilized space with low student participation. However, I was determined to turn things around and create a vibrant and engaging environment that would inspire students to thrive.

To kick-start this transformation, I organized a staff training session on effective student engagement strategies, emphasizing the significance of our work and its potential to make a lasting impact. By setting clear expectations and fostering a sense of purpose, I established a foundation for a dynamic and inclusive club that would cater to the diverse needs and interests of our students.

As a result, our club quickly gained momentum, attracting a growing number of students who were eager to participate in the fun activities and events I had planned. The summer months became a highlight of the year, with our clubhouse buzzing with excitement and energy. Students from all backgrounds came together to enjoy the various activities, games, and projects that I had curated, creating an atmosphere of camaraderie and shared enthusiasm.
