· Completed:
o Technical Modelling (ENGD250): Analyzed and interpreted engineering drawings in order to 3D model and assemble various parts using industry-standard 3-D modeling software (Solidworks and Fusion 360). The models created were then tested for mechanical strength and optimization and for the materials' sustainability. Also generated 2-D engineering drawings that comply with industry standards and norms to communicate their ideas.
o Manufacturing Processes (MNFG290): Examined the different manufacturing systems and manufacturing processes used in the industry. Extensive blueprint reading and interpretation, measurement, inspection, surface treatment, and finishing processes were also undertaken in order to produce a working Stirling engine using metal lathes and drilling presses.
o Statistics for Engineering and Technology (STAT245): Applied data analysis techniques to organize, display, and report data. Outcomes included methods of descriptive and inferential statistics. Gained experience with software-based methods in laboratory sessions using industry-grade data. Extensive use of softwares like Microsoft Excel.
o Advanced Manufacturing (MNFG310): Examined the fundamentals of design for manufacturability and assembly, introduction to lean manufacturing, introduction to geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, and introduction to quality.
o Applied Product Development (PRDT310): Developed skills in product development, applied ergonomic principles and tested physical models and prototypes. Also judged potential designs and concepts against pre-determined criteria.
o Computing for Engineering Technology (COMP213): Provided critical electronic communications, data and file management skills, along with a strong focus on using common productivity applications to format, calculate, analyze, visualize, and present or report data and information. Industry standard project management principles were implemented from a digital perspective.
o Professional Communications and Presentation Skills (COMM256): Introduced to professional writing, collaboration, and presentation skills. Gained an understanding of the strategies and competencies required for effective communication with an emphasis on developing the interpersonal skills needed to perform as part of a high-functioning team.
