Summary

My objective in joining CMAW is to find a position in a fly in, fly out setting. A carpentry or scaffolding position would be my first choice but I am open to other options. I am confident that I will excel in any work setting I am put into. The skills I have obtained thus far and the attitude that I bring to the work make me an asset to whatever project I might land in. As a highly experienced red seal Carpenter I am seeking to move away from the regular 8-5 residential schedule and into the industrial world. Friends and co-workers who have made the transition to a work away schedule have informed me that the Joining a union is the best way forward and CMAW comes highly recommended. With over fourteen years experience in the industry I am eager for a new challenge and to elevate my skills further. Over the past eight years I have been working primarily in Whistler on a variety of projects, the majority of which have been major multi-year high end custom home builds. Starting with extensive ground and concrete work right through to high end finishing. I enjoy every aspect of the building process and bring a strong work ethic and sense of pride to my work regardless of the task at hand. I work very well in a team environment and pride myself on being able to get along with and work well with virtually anyone. I have several years experience in a leadership role and genuinely enjoy mentoring and passing on skills to the workers I have been responsible for while ensuring that the utmost safety protocols are followed. Outside of residential Carpentry work I have also completed an eight month winter contract in Fort McMurray building pipelines and facilities on the Kinosis plant where I worked primarily as a Pipefitters helper and a swamper. I rose to the challenge and learned a lot during this time with regard to heavy industrial work in occasionally extreme conditions. I have held an H2s Cert, First aid level 1 and Elevated Work Platforms cert. All of which have expired but I will be looking to re-cert in the coming weeks.
