Shelter Resource Worker
Direct Service Provision:
- Intake and Assessment: Conduct initial assessments of new clients, gathering information about their needs and circumstances.
- Support and Advocacy: Provide ongoing support, guidance, and advocacy to clients, helping them access resources and services.
- Referrals and Linkages: Connect clients with a wide range of community resources, including housing, healthcare, mental health services, substance abuse treatment, and income assistance.
- Crisis Intervention:They are trained to respond to crisis situations, providing de-escalation and support to individuals in distress.
- Basic Needs Support: I assist with providing basic necessities like food, clothing, and hygiene items, and ensuring a safe and supportive environment.
Program and Operational Duties:
- Documentation and Record Keeping:They maintain accurate client records and program statistics, contributing to program evaluation and reporting.
- Community Collaboration: I collaborate with other social service agencies, healthcare providers, and community partners to ensure coordinated care for clients.
- Program Implementation: I implement life skills workshops, support groups, or other programs aimed at promoting client well-being and independence.
- Maintaining a Safe Environment: I contribute to a safe and supportive environment within the shelter, monitoring for potential issues and addressing them as needed.
- Training and Support: Some time provide guidance and support to new staff or volunteers, sharing their knowledge and experience.
