  • Transfer the patient from Holding Area to the Theatre Room with the Main Responsible Surgeon and Main Responsible Anesthetist.
  • Assist the patient in transferring from the trolley to the operating table.

  • Assist the Surgeon and Anesthetist in the positioning of the patient ensuring all limbs are supported, padded and secured on the operating table.
  • Check instruments, swabs, sharps and other supplementary items with Scrub Nurse audibly and record in the White Wipe Board.
  • Ensure that the correct size of diathermy pad is properly applied to the patient.
  • Conduct Time-Out before skin incision using the Surgical Safety Checklist.
  • Provide additional items needed.
  • Monitor the patient positioning throughout the operative procedure to ensure patient safety.

  • Monitor any item that drops on the floor from the surgical field and informs the Scrub Nurse.

  • Refer any changes in patient's status or untoward reaction, abnormal laboratory and diagnostic results to the doctor.
  • Monitor, analyze and record urine and stool output. Collect specimens including sputum, stool, and urine and send it for medical analysis to laboratory. Analyze test results from various departments and record it properly.
  • Assist doctors during treatment like changing of surgical dressings during rounds.
  • Prepare the patient for various investigations like Ultra Sound, Echo, CT scan, MRI, Endoscopy, etc.
  • Prepare the patient for operation/theater and carrying out pre and post-operative doctor’s order based on the standard protocol of the hospital
  • Give psychological support to the patient and family members.
  • Educate patient and family about the disease and prognosis of the patient.
