  • Worked in a collaborative model with physician leaders, zone directors and health services managers, this position enabled and supported the ongoing delivery of fully integrated perioperative/surgical services.
  • Designed a 3-year strategic plan focusing on Improving efficiency of the Perioperative program, improving accessibility for patients and families and developing models of care with the right people supported with the right resources. Designed a Quality Framework to guide delivery of patient/family centered care.
  • Designed and implemented a Wellness Program for Hip/Knee patients which entailed decreased wait times, improved health outcomes, enhanced patient experience and enabled provider experience to be more positive. Entailed introduction of the first three Physician assistants into Nova Scotia (18-month project) for a three-year pilot.
  • Worked in collaboration with the Stryker Performance Team from Chicago to foster Hospital Reported outcomes, KPIs, virtual application for patients and monthly reports on physician outcomes.
  • Advancing a vision for academic excellence within the provision of care, developing quality management and safety programs, and ensuring compliance with Accreditation and relevant legislation. Leading the implementation of the National Surgical Quality Improvement Program (NSQIP) with American College of Surgeons across eleven of the seventeen sites to enhance quality outcomes for the patients (to decrease surgical site infections, decrease wait times, enhanced recovery after surgery).

  • Designed, led, implemented strategic priorities, including Patient/Family Centered Care Models, Healthy Work Environments through integrated workplace strategies; patient and staff safety, leadership development in the clinical arena, career development at all levels and led the Organization’s Accreditation process.
  • Designed and implemented a Patient and Family Council to bring the patient/family voice to the table and ensure their needs were listened to and acted upon in a timely and responsive manner. This was among one initiative that enhanced the patient satisfaction scores with NRC Picker.
  • Introduced a program management model with co-leadership to ensure services centered on the patient’s needs.
  • Developed, designed and implemented a new interprofessional committee structure to focus on Quality, Risk, Safety and Performance. Co-author of Terms of Reference with Director of Quality, Safety and Risk Management. Chaired the committee and shifted the organization’s focus to the importance of quality and risk in day-to-day operations.
