  • Keep track of patients that have been seen by the Emergency Medicine physician, while the patient remains in the Emergency Department for results of tests or consultations by subspecialists
  • Answer the Emergency Physician’s companion phone, to make sure calls by specialists and others are answered promptly
  • Initiate phone calls to consultants or others on behalf of the Emergency Physician
  • Guide patients from one location to another within the ER for purposes of tests
