- As a Trackman/switch-man my responsibilities would vary from day to day
- Some responsibilities would be cutting rail using grinders, hydraulic tools, power tools, backhoe, and hand tools
- Usually from Los Angeles or long beach ports all the way to Barstow California via Main line railroad tracks
- During this process, your main job is the safety of the crew and making sure your train follows the rules of the company and FRA
- I would have to keep in constant contact with any foreman's or outside rail workers that could be in our path of travel
- I would watch all the screens and the speed of the train to make sure the train was complying
- This job works 24/7 7 days a week on Call no set schedule
- I have experience in being available and working all shifts
- Working for this company has given me the skill and ability in working as a team but also the tools and skills to be able to follow given rules and instructions and implement them daily without being overlooked or checked from supervision
