  • Description: It's an electrical power distribution system for eVTOL (electric vertical takeoff and landing) applications. Which includes highly reliable FPGA-based controller to monitor and perform power built-in test (PBIT) and continuous built-in test (CBIT) and send health status of EPDS over RS485 and CAN.
  • My responsibilities:
  • My responsibility is to finalize controller hardware architecture based on customer system requirement document and key component selection, schematic drafting of a finalized electronics circuit into a schematic entry tool, EBOM generation, stress analysis, design calculation, and PCB design support, Prepare PCB guideline for PCB constraint for high voltage and high isolation (clearance and creepage)
  • Performed PDR and CDR with internal as well as customer chief engineers and technical review panels
  • Interact with customer for technical concept and design review
  • Prepared a compliance matrix for all customer requirements as well as derived requirements.
  • Developed detailed circuit design of PDU controller includes FPGA circuit board designed, high voltage sensing up to 1000V, a current sensor signal conditioning circuit, a temperature sensor signal conditioning circuit, a relay contactor driver, a PBIT/CBIT circuit for diode fuse, FAN tachometer sensing, power supply transient protection, LV monitoring, and internal power supply monitoring
  • Performed SPICE simulation of an analog circuit and tolerance stack-up analysis of a monitoring circuit. (High voltage, current, temperature, etc.)
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams like mechanical, analysis, and wiring harness design teams
  • Performed board bring-up testing in LV lab. Prepare test results document
  • Performed PCB-level integration testing with consideration for FPGA booting and power-up testing and other analog signal conditioning circuit testing, like voltage monitoring, current sensing, temperature sensing, RS-485, etc
