  • Performed nutrition screening and tailored nutrition care plans for outpatient pre- and post-op head and neck cancer patients.
  • Adjusted feeds (rates, formula, type of feed) in consideration with patients' post-operative nutrient requirements, current disease state, adjuvant therapies, weight assessment, and lifestyle.
  • Continued to educated patients on at-home gastrostomy tube feed tube management and formula administration with modified-diet teaching to patients with progressive or regressive signs and symptoms of dysphagia.


University of Alberta Hospital, (Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery Inpatient Unit), Edmonton: Aug 6th- Aug 30th 

  • Performed nutrition screening and tailored nutrition care plans for pre and post-op head and neck cancer patients while monitoring clinical parameters for post-op complications such as lab abnormalities, dysphagia, and aspiration events.
  • Experience with starting multiple enteral nutrition care plans; adjusting rate, formula, and holding feeds to consider drug-nutrient interactions for post-operative patients.
  • Educated patients on at-home gastrostomy tube feed management and formula administration, and delivered modified-diet teaching to patients experiencing dysphagia.


Camp Jean Nelson (Diabetes Canada), Water Valley: July 28th-Aug 3rd

  • Gained experience managing blood glucose and using insulin to carbohydrate ratios for insulin administration with children, ages ~8-10 years, and diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes in an active camp environment.


Alberta Hospital, Edmonton: July 2nd-July 25th

  • Developed nutrition intervention and care plans for patient populations primarily diagnosed with the following: mental illnesses such as depression, anxiety, suicide ideation, schizophrenia, polysubstance use (alcohol, cannabis, methamphetamine's), bipolar disorder (type 1 and type 2) – in the manic phase, pervasive developmental delay, and eating disorders (anorexia nervosa, bulimia, and binge eating disorder).


Royal Alexandra Hospital (Diabetes Outpatient Clinic): June 10th-June 28th

  • Patient populations: Type 1 diabetes (pregnant/pre-conception/non-pregnant), Type 2 diabetes (pregnant/pre-conception/non-pregnant), prediabetes (pregnant/pre-conception) and gestational diabetes.
  • Developed personalized diabetes nutrition care plans tailored to individual needs.
  • Provided ongoing support for patients through follow-up appointments and phone consultations, enhancing their ability to manage their condition independently.


Clinical Nutrition: Introductory

Olds Hospital and Care Centre, Olds Home Care, and Sundre Health Centre: May 6th-May 31st

  • Learned the foundations of nutrition assessment, nutrition counseling, and the development of nutrition care plans.
