Working with a local & values-focused compostable packaging company has granted me a firm grasp on:

• Sales Management: Building and normalizing systems for efficiency in pricing, quoting, order and inventory management. Great relationships & business development, inside and outside.
• Policy & Scientific Research: Copyediting for clarity and efficacy in applied academic writing (ex. policy advocacy, supply bids, scientific publications)
• Marketing: Sustainability-infused graphic design, copywriting, and marketing for commercial and retail clients. Planning and leading development of a social media presence.
• Administrative Management: Fulfilling orders & managing inventory at an on or off-site warehouse. Training a 1-3 person team on day-to-day operations. Supporting the company and team in a move to a new location.

I worked the dinner and shelter service regularly beginning my first week at UBC.

• 7-11PM weekly on Tuesday nights
• Kept a warm and welcoming manner for guests
• Offered help wherever I was able, ex. cleanup, kitchen, extra conversation

With a diverse team of 100% volunteers, I made myself available wherever possible to deliver a meaningful and physically safe event:

• Engaged event staff and local interest groups to support overall goals and bring meaningful presenters on stage.
• Led COVID safety focused graphic design for all march elements from social media, to press releases, to on-site safety signage.
• Recruited & directed capable designers in my network as-needed to meet deadlines.
• Supported decision-making processes by conducting policy research and clearly presenting findings.

This multifaceted position at Blue Chip Cafe, a busy, central UBC student cafe (up to $10-15K in daily sales at the time) made me fast friends out of customers, managers, and coworkers alike because of my:

• Quick, capable & attentive work under pressure
• Quality at all points along the service process (food prep, baking, cash register, espresso bar, oven station, playlists)
• Wide breadth of experience supporting other AMS food service outlets including; Porch, The Gallery, Pie R Squared, Honour Roll, Nest Catering, and The PIT.

Supported project work with multidisciplinary groups towards a regional agroforestry and conservation area:

• Participated in stakeholder outreach efforts
• Wildlife education support with local youth
• Worked daily to maintain the agroforestry plot (planting, harevsting, irrigation, etc)

At this company, I started in September 2012 as a lifeguard. My role grew to include swim lessons instruction soon after, thanks to my reliability and eagerness to work. Here, I:

• Supported the Lessons Coordinators with planning and logistical needs as required
• Improved swimmer confidence at all age levels, in public or one-on-one private appointments
• Saw a continuing and strong demand for private lessons even after leaving for university

Researched, compiled, and presented public-facing materials concerning the safety, health, and ecological impacts of hydraulic fracturing.

• Designed informational brochures and maintained chapter social media accounts
• Gave concise presentations and answered questions for local interest groups
• Wrote & submitted testimony for House Bill 449 proposing a moratorium on new projects in the (Marcellus Shale) region
