EXAMPLES OF DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES.
1. Conducts and records EEG and tests on patients by performing duties such as operating a variety of equipment, adjusting equipment during test process, observing monitor, taking appropriate measurements from test data produced and using tools within program to enhance waveforms in order to demonstrate whether abnormalities exist.
2. Conducts Evoked Potential (EP) tests such as visual, brainstem, and somato-sensory evoked responses using a variety of equipment by performing duties such as locating and stimulating nerves, applying recording electrodes to the patient, assessing patients’ responses, and making necessary adjustments to equipment to ensure a complete study is conducted.
3. Formulates preliminary technical reports by performing duties such as analyzing recordings, measuring numerical data, describing abnormal manifestations, and forwarding calculations to the physician for use in clinical diagnosis.
4. Conducts and records EEG on patients in the Seizure Investigation Unit by performing duties such as setting up patients, operating and troubleshooting monitoring equipment, computers and cameras. Prunes, describes and logs all patient events. Assesses raw data to determine recording montages, parameters, and/or reprogramming montages that best represent what complex data should be pruned for Epileptologists to use in diagnosis.
5. Receives and prepares patients for tests by performing duties such as receiving requisitions from physicians, reviewing case history and assessing the nature of the problems to determine process and direct test accordingly. Prepares patients for tests by receiving and interviewing patient or family, explaining procedures, attaching electrodes to appropriate areas and monitoring patient’s comfort to ensure patient is at ease while obtaining required results.
