Gurpiar Gill

Started work here working on edgebander and beam saw, later on learnt CNC and moved on to it. Been on CNC for about 3 months. Then got prompted to being team lead.
My role and duties as Team lead-

• Assigned duties to production staff and monitored progress.
• Covering breaks and off days of CNC operator.
• Ensured quality standards were maintained throughout the production process.
• Developed and implemented production schedules ensuring deadlines were met.
• Maintained accurate records of inventory levels, material usage and materials needed for upcoming jobs.
• Implemented cost-saving measures to reduce waste and improve efficiency.
• Evaluated subordinate performance and communicated with employees to provide feedback for work performance improvement.
• Defined, created and developed solutions to identify root cause of problems to avoid future occurrences.
• Identified areas of improvement in the production process and recommended changes.
• Collaborated with other departments to ensure timely completion of projects.
• Provided leadership, guidance, and direction to team members on daily tasks.
• Coordinated resources from multiple departments as needed for successful project completion.
• Notified supervisors about production problems and helped identify and correct concerns.

• Started my Canadian carpentry journey from here being working as being a helper as it was a small shop about 5 to 6 people working inside factory.
• Got promoted to operate the saw (bread and butter for the whole shop) It was difficult thing to learn, Not operating it but the stress of calculating sizes to maximise the yield from sheets, keeping people ahead busy coupled with being a supervisor made it a lot challenging role, that gave more n more opportunities to learn new things in short time.
• Working in small shop, gave me chance to learn almost everything we do in warehouse as we used to exchange duties depending on which station is lagging behind.
• We also did a lot of custom projects like- TV units, Bars, working on restaurants etc, which gave me a deeper sense of creativeness and design.
