Currently an Attorney III with the MAU unit with over 5 years of experience.
I am a Vertical advocate for the Medical Advocacy Unit where I prosecute employee misconduct for the
Department of Corrections. I handle a full case load and my duties begin when a case has been assigned
to the unit by the Center Intake Unit (CIU) for the Office of Internal Affairs (OIA). When assigned a case I
will analyze it, give feed back to the OIA agent assigned and help prep the investigation plan, observe
and advise during witness and subject interviews and finally review the OIA report of the investigation.
After the investigation process, I will draft an analysis and recommendation for the hiring authority as to
how to proceed. If action is taken I will draft the Notice of Adverse Action and provide the Skelly pack
for service of the employee. After the action is served, I will observe the Skelly hearing and represent
the Department in the appeal process in front of the State Personnel Board (SPB) until the conclusion of
the case be it by settlement or judgement. Other duties have included providing legal advice and
support for hiring authorities, OIA and the Employee Relations Offices both at PMU and onsite. On
occasion I have acted as the ACC when my supervisor is out of the office and have represented OLA
through the weekly Central Intake process.

I run all aspects of a solo law practice. I do everything from client intake and consultations to court
appearances, trial, mediation, motion work, filings, plea negotiations, billing and scheduling. The areas
of law that I have worked in are, criminal defense, family law, civil torts including personal injury,
juvenile dependency, landlord tenant law, California Gaming Commission, basic contract law and
probate.
I designed and sold high end video security systems to dealers. I serviced a nation wide client base of
over 100 dealers. I provided design work, sales, and technical support before and after installation of the
systems. On a daily basis, I balanced client service, design and client base expansion.
I oversaw the day to day running of four video rental stores. My duties included hiring, dismissals,
employee scheduling, customer experience, inventory control, ordering, balancing the till, and acting as
a liaison between the owners and the store managers.
