Humanities student with a concrete set of research, writing, and reading skills necessary to conduct graduate level study in a liberal arts degree. During my second year as an undergraduate student, I participated in the 2025 YSJ Critical Editions project. This project was hosted by the English Literature Department and supervised by one of my academic tutors Dr. Adam J Smith. YSJ Critical Editions aims to provide hands-on work experience for students and produce accessible modern editions of 18th-century English texts. Alongside my peers, I worked to transcribe, edit, annotate, and publish an electrical edition of a collection of poems (Lyrical Tales) written by 18th-century writer Mary Robinson. Thanks to our contributions, Lyrical Tales was made accessible to future students and the general public. We also promoted the works of a lesser-known woman writer through our efforts, thereby challenging the literary canon.
I enrolled in two short online summer courses offered by the UC San Diego Extended Studies program after completing my undergraduate degree to introduce me to the subject of art history. The courses I took (titled "Introduction to Modern Art: Impressionism to World War II" and "Contemporary Art 101") were each conducted by one weekly online session for four weeks where us students were encouraged to engage in live discussions and short written assignments. I have successfully passed both courses.
This prize is awarded to the student who achieves the highest degree classification mark in their undergraduate subject.
