I sat on the national board of the Canadian Hard of Hearing Association for many year. I also founding a group in Kamloops for people with hearing loss and taught lip reading.
After receiving my Cochlear Implants I mentored many individuals who were considering Cochlear Implants. I did presentations on many occasions to groups on the benefits of Cochlear Implants and am still working to make places more accessible to the hard of hearing. I am presently working to have the Globe Theatre looped so those with hearing aids and Cochlear Implants can participate more fully in the presentations.
Our quilt guild just held a quilt show where we showcased the quilts of the locals quilters. We had more than 100 quilts displayed. We raffled a quilt that we made as a group and the money raised will be donated to a local charity. In the past we have made donations to the First Responders and the Fire Hall. This year we will choose another group to donate to.
We have made quilts for cancer survivors, people in the home and The Humbolt Warriers.
