Started Peak CNC Machining in 2014. The business started with purchase of previous employers equipment and began with machining and welding of various forestry industry parts. Company slowly grew over the last 10 years with expanding clientele. As sole owner my responsibilities included all aspects of running the business from programming (with mastercam), machining, ordering material, dealing with customers and organizing work flow.
The shop has 1 CNC lathe, 2 vertical and 1 horizontal CNC milling centers, 1 CNC plasma table, manual lathe, radial arm drill , welding equipment and various support equipment.
While working at TWG Canada I was responsible for programming and operating a variety of CNC lathe and milling machines. I spent some time on the manual lathe and vertical milling machine as well. I was responsible for producing quality parts according to drawings provided. During my last 2 years I was also tasked with training new employees and improving machining process with newer technology and tooling.
Pazmac gave me the opportunity to work with a wide variety of material including steel, inconel, titanium, aluminum and a variety of plastics. This shop required tight tolerances and generally high volume parts. I worked mainly on the horizontal and vertical CNC milling centers with some time spent on the CNC lathes as well. My last 6 months of employment had me as the shift lead for the weekend shift.
I successfully completed my manual machinist apprenticeship in Sept. of 2002 while employed with Lindsay Forest Products. I was responsible for operating both manual horizontal and vertical milling machines, surface grinders, lathes and radial drills.
During my time with this bicycle component manufacturer my main duties included the operation of one of the companies CNC machining centers. Attention to detail and quality control of both cosmetic finishes and size were required for the wide variety of parts manufactured.
