I would like to work at the PNE as an agricultural host for children, or in animal husbandry, or the agricultural aspect of the PNE.
The skills I will bring to the PNE are a sense of fun and engagement, along with a desire to help small children learn about farm animals. I am comfortable engaging with people of all ages, and being able to respond to their questions.
As a teenager and young adult, I grew up around horses, chickens, ducks and the occasional cow. I also grew up in an area with orchards and farms. I picked fruit, and performed tasks as required around the farm and orchard. While it has been some time since I last interacted with animals, I am comfortable with smaller animals, the sound, and odour which accompanies them. If needed, I am capable of intervening should there be a safety issue for the animals, and, or guests at the fair.
I am responsible, and understand that punctuality, team work and client care are needed for working at the PNE. The I learned during my 35 year career with the bank, and my time as a Master gardener should be an asset in making the guest experience at the PNE, a positive one.
I was short-listed for a position at the PNE last year but was unable to participate in the job interviews as they coincided with a camping vacation, where no internet services where available. I would be very pleased to become a member of the PNE in 2025.
I worked as a clerk whose responsibility was to ensure all financial documents, rent rolls, insurance document. etc., were received on time, or pursue documentation if missing. My duties also included taking rent roll information, verifying leases and that the rental information made sense. I was responsible for making phone calls. emails as well. My position required that I pay attention to detail, and that I have positive, and respectful client interactions. I was also required to be organized and use critical thinking to make sure that the information received matched with other documents.
I managed my deadlines and worked with other team members. I won a few quarterly awards recognizing when I excelled in my work and helping team mates.
I retired in December 2023 after approximately 35 years with RBC.
In my current role as a Master Gardener I attend clinics at garden shops, the Home and Garden show and other venues, so the public is able to approach with gardening questions I have good speaking skills, and the ability to provide information as required As we are asked a great many questions about gardening, we have to keep on our toes Questions range from "How do I design a garden" to what kind of seeds are easy for children to grow I interact with all ages and backgrounds during these sessions, which can be informative and quite fun I volunteer at Eagle Ridge Hospital as a gardener twice a week as well
