Intern
1. Receives, Sorts, Disassembles, Decontaminates, Cleans, Assembles, Wraps, Sterilizes, and stores instruments, equipment and hospital supplies from all user areas.
2. Transport and decontaminate reusable patient care equipment, medical devices, and surgical and endoscopic instruments.
3. Sort, select, inspect, and package patient care equipment, medical devices, and surgical and endoscopic instruments to ensure cleanliness, functionality, and process compatibility.
4. load, operate, test, and troubleshoot steam and low temperature sterilizers and automatic endoscopic reprocessors following critical parameters and quality assurance indicators.
5. Store, inventory, transport and distribute patient care equipment, medical devices, and surgical and endoscopic instruments to maintain sterile integrity.
6. Recognize occupational health and safety hazards and risks in the medical device reprocessing workplace and how they can be mitigated using practices such as dress code, work area design, and workflow.
7. Identify medical devices and supplies required for specific patient care procedures based on knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and surgical instrumentation.
