I have worked for Santa Cruz County Public Works since 1997. In the 25 years of working experience I have gained the experience to organize daily duties, ensuring jobs run safely and efficiently. I have worked with the public and dealt with them on a daily basis knowing how best approach each unique situation. I have worked on Drainage, Road and Special crews. Having experience on each of these crews has helped me to ensure we utilize the best tools and practices to use at each job assignment. I recognize which job task best suits each employee to get the most of each team member. As a senior operator, I gained knowledge and experience operating heavy equipment safely and efficiently including bulldozers, excavators,graders,backhoes, loaders, street brooms, forklifts, low boy trailer and fifth wheel tractor. I have my Qualified Applicators Certificate for rodent control and herbicide application. Acquired my class A drivers license with no restrictions.

Worked In the storm and levee patrols In the major storms of 1998,2011, and 2016/2017. I have the knowledge and experience of proper channel maintenance by following California Fish and Game guidelines and the woody stream material policies for our creek river, and channel responsibilities. I planned, organized, and oversaw our rodenticide and herbicide program, ensuring proper application of herbicides and rodenticides, I ensured that we adhered to the rules and regulations relating the herbicide and rodenticide guidelines. I also work 24 hour emergency response, responding to various situations which include removing trees blocking the roadway, replacing damaged road signs, cleaning up after vehicle accidents. I was responsible for the maintenance of 13 miles of the Pajaro and Salsipuedes Creek levees, l organized the maintenance of our the maintenance of our channel and creek responsibilities including PSDMD (Watsonville),Zone 5 (Santa Cruz/Live Oak), Zone 6(Aptos), Zone * (Felton/Boulder Creek/Ben Lomond), and Zone 4 which includes areas not on our routine maintenance schedule. I scheduled daily work assignments for the crew, ensuring that they complete all the details needed to ensure a quality job gets completed. I also respond to and investigate public complaints regarding flooding issues or concerns. I respond back to the reporting party and advise them how the complaint/concern will be handled. I inspect work sites for to determine what work should be done and prioritize the work schedule accordingly. I plan and organize our crews bi-monthly safety meetings. I also construct a written traffic control plan for the crew when needed. I can coordinate to get jobs completed such as working with our sanitation department, the City of Watsonville, contractor, and biologists. I also oversaw the our rodent control and herbicide program. in compliance with safe working environments. I was in charge of completing monthly and bi-monthly weekly documents such as monthly facility inspection, pesticide inventory, and slough gauge monitoring.I Acquired my QAC certificate enabling me to apply herbicide and rodenticide. I have also planned and oversaw the Bargetto Bridge maintenance project in Soquel creek for a number of years, meeting with biologists to inspect the scope of work node to complete the project. Working with a small crew we were able to complete the project in a timely manner ensuring the area was ready for winter storms. I over saw the levee and flap gate channel maintenance as we prepared for the annual Army Corps levee inspection. I oversaw a number of staff including some staff we borrowed from other districts to help su meet our timeline goals, these duties included mowing, dredging flap gate channels, inspecting culverts, flap gates, rodent control and vegetation removal. I also have coordinated jobs when we hire CCC( California Conservation Core)to assist us with projects and maintenance, directing them in their duties and making sure they are aware of what is expected of their crew.

I also worked and organized our road crew as we were assigned the task of grinding and paving. I measured, marked and planned out the work to be done on each road. I was also in charge of calculating the amount of asphalt we would need each day and the amount of time we would to completed each road. Ensuring that all equipment was procured so that we could complete each road as efficiently and seamlessly as possible.

Since 2021 I have overseen special crews. I have overseen the guardrail repair, litter, sign, sweeping and striping assigned to our crew. Also I over saw the completion of our crew responsibilities to complete the NPDES requirements as we cleaned and inspected silt and grease-trap facilities. I have been tasked with ordering supplies and keeping the yard stocked for crews to get supplies needed for each job.

These items include culverts, guardrails, and various power tool and safety supplies.

My experience and job duties included being responsible planning, scheduling projects and daily work details, ensuring that we follow all policies pertaining to wildlife and habitat policies. Evaluating progress of projects, overseeing a crew.

When our crew was was assigned the grind and pave portion of our maintenance program I would head out days before marking the areas that needed to be repaired by our crew. I would then head back and estimate how much progress our crew should make each day to enable us to meet our completion goals in a timely manner.

I also contacted the quarries to ensure they would have the mix needed to help us complete our tasks.I would calculate staff, equipment and materials needed for each site.

When I led The Drainage crew I was responsible for the scheduling of channel maintenance, herbicide application and rodent control program. I was responsible for 13 plus miles of levee maintenance plus numerous other districts. While heading our flood control program we performed many duties including the removal of log jams, vegetation and any obstructions that would cues flooding. I working with biologists and other agencies to ensure that our flood control goals were met.

As a supervisor for special crews I have overseen the striping program, the NPDES program, litter program, Street sweeping program, and the maintenance and up keep of county signs. Also my crew is in charge of painting and maintaining all county legends and crosswalks. I have had to schedule and ensure that we are meeting all county goals set for mileage and amount of worked need to deliver a quality service our general public.

While in drainage I was able to work with a few agencies which included Fish&Game, County Biologists and outside contractors. Working with fish&game, I learned how to adhere to the guidelines of M.O.U. Set forth by that agency to keep us in compliance and trouble free. While working with county Biologist I ensured the our crew was following guidelines set by the woody stream material program and recognizing when we would be performing tasks which might affect endangered species such as the red legged frog.

While leading the drainage crew I oversaw the the yearly maintenance of all the channels and creeks that were assigned to the drainage crew ensuring that we were performing the tasks needed to ensure that our channels and creeks would have the ability to handle storm water run off. While there I was able to schedule yearly vegetation removal and maintenance, dredging of channels, and facility improvements. One of our main goals there was to prepare for the annual levee

inspection conducted by the Army Corps of Engineers. I have the crews perform various tasks such as mowing, flap gate and culvert maintenance, removal of fallen trees and Rodent Control.

While on the road crew I was in charge of scheduling the crews duties of winterizing storm damage site, the schedule for the maintenance season which included grinding and paving, mowing, and ditching throughout our district.

While on special crew I have been tasked with scheduling litter control, street sweeping, guardrail repair, striping, legend installs and maintenance as well as our street sign progrAm.I Am in charge of keeping stock and inventory for all districts.

Also while on this crew I have given the responsibilities of bridge maintenance and repairs throughout the county.

I have learned to create documents using Microsoft word, excel, and keeping daily work records with the Lucity program. I create monthly reports using the Lucity program and excel programs, such as monthly inventory, monthly quarry reports, syringe reports, and monthly stock withdrawals. I have created forms for our yearly striping schedule, keeping daily schedule, safety meeting sheets and inventory sheets to keep track of what we use, all while using the word and excel programs.

I possess a QAC card issued by the department of pesticide allowing me to apply pesticides and rodenticides. I also possess a valid Class A license with no restrictions with Tanker, Combo and double/triples endorsements.
